Harley Davidson Accessories

tire Harley Davidson accessories and parts were very much a home-made entity up until the Company’s fight for survival in the 80’s.

The Harley Davidson name was almost at extinction point after the dramatic takeover by AMF (American manufacturing and foundry.  Prior to this, Harley Davidson accessories, or certainly parts, were mainly manufactured in the US. The famous logo name makes up more than five percent of the total revenue income of the company and it attracts major loyal brand support around the world. That means that Harley Davidson accessories that have their logo on it make up more than 41 million dollars of their total income: from handle tassels to luggage racks and customized saddles to modified exhausts.

Around the crisis time in the 80’s when 13 investors bought out AMF, the new owners realized they had to take some drastic action to fend off the threat of the Japanese invasion of bikes. The AMF takeover had been nothing short of disastrous, trimming the workforce creating strikes and winning the ignominious nickname, Hardly Ableston- a sad demise for the once proud international brand. Part of the new strategy was to go back to the traditional hall mark and looks of the famous maker based on their earlier designs; with this move to retro styling,  Harley Davidson accessories  and bike sales found they were having a renaissance. Side bags and chrome appurtenances were making a return-but many parts now were imported to try to offset higher costs at home. As part of the new owners drive for survival, they adopted the ‘Just-in-time’ Japanese principle-quite a paradox in many ways-to keep their Haley Davidson accessories and parts down to absolute minimums and forming a tight interface ratio to demand. This and a 45% tariff that was introduced to all imported bikes into the States that were over 750cc and including other categories, together with the move back to tradition, were key factors in stabilizing the Company and saving it from bankruptcy.

Harley Davidson accessories are highly sought after and nearly all come with the famous brand name included. There is a wide selection and availability of these and using online shops is one of the best ways of checking out what’s available, especially if you are looking towards customization or renovation. One of the success factors at the core of the name was not only the gut-growling distinct roar of the engine, but the add-on accessories that helped customize its looks-something that many other bike companies around the world sought to emulate, particularly the infamous pear drop gas tank which made it distinctive when it first came into existence-of course sporting the Company logo.
